Japanese Itochu bought 50% of the Brazilian production of grains Naturalle company, an alliance with which to quadruple its annual harvest of soybeans, reported on Tuesday (09/09) Japanese corporation.
Itochu signed the purchase, to the end of this year, half of the shares of Naturalle, specialized in seed cultivation for export to China and other Asian countries, the Brazilian company Axial venture capital by 2 billion yen (US $ 42 5 million).
The Naturalle currently has 60 employees, and has set a goal harvest a million tons of soybeans annually in the first two years of alliance with the Japanese company, the first Itochu's involvement in the agricultural sector in the country.
Itochu, along with their new Asian ally, Charoen Pokphand Group, the largest conglomerate in Thailand, is now studying the possibility to engage in joint projects other Brazilian companies dedicated to the cultivation and soybean oil production, according to the Japanese newspaper "Nikkei" .
